A creative workshop that aims to enhance wellbeing through painting, drawing, movement and words.

Organised as part of this year's Bloomsbury Festival, Art For Life is a creative wellbeing workshop that includes painting, drawing, words and movement. Inspired by the festival’s theme ‘Breathe’, and prioritising imagination and playfulness, the workshop aims to enhance wellbeing, reduce stress and encourage interpersonal engagement through structured creative activities.

With its roots in art therapy, Art For Life explores how engaging with art through creative practice can help develop the practical and psychological skills that support personal wellbeing.

Led by Milly Green, a qualified and experienced practitioner, participants will be guided through the experience of art-making in a safe and supportive group setting. Participants are encouraged to find meaning in their work and bring their experiments to life. The emphasis of the workshop is not being ‘good’ at art, but on taking part and enjoying the process.

The Art For Life workshop at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery will be centred on a selection of artworks curated around the theme, ‘Breathe’. This will include an array of remarkable artworks that explore nature, from Australian Aboriginal paintings to Roy Wright’s magnificent charcoal drawings of trees.

All ages welcome. Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.

Art for Life is an art and wellbeing workshop that uses creative activity, painting, drawing and words, as part of the therapeutic process. We focus on positive group engagement and how the arts can be used to develop skills that help reduce stress, reinforce playfulness and gain new insights.

You will be guided through the art-making experience where you are encouraged to find your own meaning in your work as you bring your ‘art experiments’ to life. There is no need to be ‘good’ at art as there is no end result – the emphasis is on taking part and enjoying the process.

Loved every minute of the classes! Brilliantly guided by Milly, I had so much fun and learnt some new skills along the way. Would highly recommend, very relaxed and informal and just a lovely way to spend a morning.


It was a great way to have some time out and do something together, just the two of us.  Neither of us are creative, but we were amazed how much we enjoyed ourselves and looked forward to the next session.  Milly was fabulous and we found the sessions really relaxing and fun.  It was like an effortless bonding experience, which was well needed.

I launched Art Movement in 1995 as an art consultancy and dining club, representing and exhibiting around 80 contemporary artists in the UK and around the world.  I then ran my gallery for 5 years and now continue to represent my core 5 leading artists. 

Following two years art therapy training,  (Advanced Diploma in the Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Applied Arts, Certificate in Counselling Skills and Certificate in Parents & Children at IATE, The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education), I have created, and personally deliver, Art for Life sessions using visual arts, as a language and to express emotion.  The sessions are designed for you to relax, have fun and immerse yourself in creativity, aiming to promote happiness and wellbeing, particularly in helping Parents and Teenagers reconnect.

Painting, drawing, mixed media, words and movement are explored to open up curiosity and imagination. 

I continually and consciously adapt Art Movement to suit the climate and believe that this type of exploration, Art for Life, seems more relevant now than ever.
