Who's a wallflower? - Ruby Read

These orchids arrived in hundreds of pieces. During my residency in Margate, I assembled them and arranged this wonderful pot of flowers.  They sat in my studio for the full three months, a quiet presence, until one day I finally painted them. 
Almost as beautiful as fresh flowers, except they will never die, everlasting. They remind me of my childhood; I was always obsessed with Lego. 
Birds occupy my thoughts a great deal right now. My budgie Bingo recently died; I was fond of his beauty. Everything bird-themed draws me in at the moment.
