Statuary marble - a white marble from a few select quarries in the city of Carrara, Tuscany. Statuary is considered the king of the White Carrara marbles. The blocks of stone consist of high white purity background and classical thunderbolt veins which is why it was so popular in the past for statue making (eg Michelangelo's David)
